Born in Kincardine, Ontario, Michael Bannerman moved to Stratford after university and has called the community home for the past 30 years. Alongside his wife, Christy, Michael has raised four children—Caleb, Meagan, Nate and Zachary—and has built a life rooted in family, community and service.
During his first five years in Stratford, Michael worked as the Family Services Coordinator with the Salvation Army. His work included running the local food bank, providing counselling and life-skills programs, and supporting unhoused individuals.
It was work that Michael found deeply rewarding—and it gave him a firsthand look at the challenges facing families in our community and the power of education to help break the cycle of generational poverty.
